Encouraging the optimal use of medical technologies
IFCS participates as an active member in various associations involved in the Canadian healthcare sector. These associations work to maintain and improve technologies in order to provide the safest possible healthcare services to patients.
CMBES : The Canadian Medical and Biological Engineering Society is the largest Canadian organization covering the community of biomedical engineers. It is affiliated with the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) which is essentially a federation of national and transnational organizations. These organizations represent national interests in the medical and biomedical engineering field.
The
IFMBE encourages research and the application of knowledge, disseminates information and promotes collaboration.
SOQIBS : The Société québécoise d'informatique biomédicale et de la santé (SoQibs) is a French-language association founded in 2001 to promote the optimal use of the computer in Quebec healthcare through the mobilization of clinical practitioners, managers, decision makers, researchers, entrepreneurs and other actors in the health sector, and the general public. The SoQIBS defines itself as a clearing house for the exchange and sharing of knowledge, experiences and innovations relevant to the development, implementation and use of information and communications technologies in healthcare in order to support the practices and organization of healthcare services.
AGIRS : Represents those working to manage information technologies, information systems and informational resources in the Quebec healthcare sector. Today, the members of AGIRS come from all over the province, and work as managers, professionals or technicians in the public institutions of the Quebec healthcare and social services system.
